“If it’s out of your hands, it deserves freedom from your mind too.” – Ivan Nuru
Yesterday, we celebrated ‘St Mary’s Well-Being Wednesday.’ One Wednesday each month the children will take part in activities to allow them to escape from the busyness of everyday life and enjoy some meditation, exploring the outdoors, outdoor play, playing with friends, art activities and listening to music. We were raising the awareness and importance of our physical and mental well-being. The weather played its part and we are very grateful to Holy Cross College for the use of their grounds for our walk.

Last week all of our pupils engaged in our Annual Science Week. This year, the theme was “St. Mary’s P.S. Celebrating Science and Investigations.”
Our pupils enjoyed a fun filled week where they developed their scientific investigational skills. Our pupils participated in Mini-Beast hunts, tested materials properties, explored electricity, investigated senses, looked at the characteristics of living things, investigated the properties of light and sound and measured and mixed solutions. Our Primary 6 pupils took part in a six-week project, where they planned, designed and created models or scenes based around their topic of WWII. Outdoor learning has played a massive role in our pupils learning in the Junior Site and as you can see all of our pupils have enjoyed learning in this manner. The World Around Us is a big part of our curriculum here in St. Mary’s and we look forward to exploring and investigating even more in the future years. More photos of Science week can be found on the class pages. Congratulations to Megan, Easkey and Nicole who been selected to participate on the Verbal Arts Youth Panel. Well done girls!
