Assessment
Assessment
Parent/Teacher meetings are held at Halloween which is early enough in the academic
year to discuss and act upon any concerns and to discuss children’s progress. Scores
in Literacy and Numeracy are discussed for every child and parents’ support sought
regarding the target scores in these areas for their children in the end of year tests.
Apart from this formal meeting, teachers have an open door policy which encourages
parents to come in at any time of the year to discuss progress or any issues which may
have arisen. Such appointments are easily made through the office or directly with the
teachers via a note. School tests are conducted in April and a written report issued to
parents in June.
At the end of Key Stage 1 and 2 (P4 and P7) children are assessed in English and
Maths by their class teachers and these judgements are confirmed by the use of
assessment units provided by CCEA (Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and
Assessment). The results for each child are in the form of levels. The results are
passed to parents in the June report.
