The children in St Mary's were preparing for lent this week. On Tuesday we celebrated Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day!). Boys and girls in the school got hands on making (and then eating) their own pancakes. More photos of Mrs Ward's class are available to view on the Primary 2 page.
The Primary 4 children were taking part in the Paired Maths Programme this term. The children played different maths games at home each week to encourage mathematical thinking outside of the classroom and to encourage their enjoyment of the subject. Numeracy Coordinator Mr McLaughlin presented the boys and girls with their certificates this afternoon.
St Mary's held a non-uniform day today with donations collected for charity. A total of £800 was raised and will be split between Codie and Kaiden's charities. Thank you very much to everyone who donated.
Well done to Mr O'Neill's P6B class who put on an assembly for the children in the Senior School this morning. A video of the assembly is now available to view on the Primary 6 Page.
Some of our P7 pupils got the chance to take part in a Youth Discovery Day in the Guildhall on Friday to allow them to discuss how their rights can be embedded into public services. The event was hosted through a UNICEF UK partnership with Council, Western Health and Social Care Trust, the Education Authority and the Community and Voluntary Sector. Thanks very much to Paddy Simpson for bringing the ambulance to St Mary's yesterday. The P1 children are learning all about the hospital in class this term. Paddy was able to show the boys and girls around the ambulance and show them some of the life saving equipment, they even got to put on the siren! More photos are available to view on the Primary 1 page.
Children from Mr Lafferty's P5B class made the short trip to Knockavoe School on Wednesday morning for a Global Awareness lesson. The children worked together before they heard from Geraldine Fitzpatrick from the Red Cross about the charities work with refugees. Thank you to very much to Geraldine and to Knockavoe for hosting the event. More photos are available to view on the Primary 5 page.
